Snapper Rigs are pre-tied fishing rigs and come in a range of sizes and Flasher colors, but they all use  circle hooks, tied on various types of leader strength in a paternoster arrangement.

The key to the success using the rig is the fish flasher  material attached to the hooks. Each Circle hook is rigged by flashy dressing, the Same as a  salt water fly.

Reedy’s rigs can be used for surf fishing rig or Fished for whiting in the smaller model Size #4. Snapper Rigs are , very effective in the surf. I have caught a number of Australian salmon from the surf on The Paternoster Snapper Rig , and they are fished regularly  to catch other species like gummy sharks & Talior . This is one of  Best uses for Snapper rigs in Australian & New Zealand waters. They fish Very well not just for snapper but a range of fish like whiting , Mulloway , Australian Salmon the list is basically endless what they catch.

No matter whether you’re fishing from the shore or a boat, it is best to use bait on your Flasher rig. A strip of squid is ideal, especially in the surf. Pass the hook through the squid strip just once, towards one end of the strip, just as you would for normal circle hooks.

Tie a Snapper Rigs yourself -Tying a Snapper rig you will need some line rated to 60lb some suicide hooks , Some Lumo bead's  & a fishing  swivel rated to the same strength or slight more then your line rating . We will tie the snapper rig using a uni Knot Please follow along with the YouTube  video . Also please note you can tie this rig with any hook size & leader strength . Another good fishing rig to use to catch a  is a Paternoster flasher rig  , also it a great idea to fish a combination of both type of rigs , both rigs  fish brilliantly from a boat , pier and in the surf .

The Snelled rig is used to catch a range of fish species, not just snapper, and once a fish is hooked on this rig there is no escaping,  it is deadly , so it's important to note if you are planning to release your fish I would not advise using this rig.  If releasing try a flasher rig or a paternoster with the use of a Circle hook .
( if you want to use  circle  hooks in this set up instead of a suicide hook , it will work great too. )

When tying the uni knot depending on what strength fishing leader you are using will depend on how many twists in the knot you will need  to do . Make sure you give the knot some lubrication  as well , I wasn't very clear in the video about twisting  and leader strength for example, if you are tying 40lb leader you may only need to twist the uni knot 8 to 10 times so the knot does not slip ,  if you are using 20lb leader you may need to twist it 10 to 12 times , just something I want to add to this knot tying step by step process,  just keep in mind the weaker the line the more twist you need to apply to your knot .
